so it has been a week since we went on our corporate sponsored weekend getaway to Leavenworth. Despite major snow falls and pass closures, both Abi and I made it up successfully and without incident. i went up at 7:30 to be in training all day. it was the creative team building challenge sort of training, egg drop challenges and blind tent building and the like.

 

Our hotel was right on the edge of town and we got lucky to have a very nice suite, jacuzzi tub, remote control fireplace. we didn't spend a lot of time in the room, but it was nice nonetheless.

 

Abi got to town just as dinner was starting at the Festhalle. it was a horrible horrible German buffet. wouldn't have been all that bad if it had been warm. but at least we had drink tickets and a polka band! s

 

After the "dinner" was over, we went out with some co-workers to the Ducks and Drakes, a great bar in town. they had really good bar food and drinks. a good time was had by all!

 

Saturday we got up, checked out of the hotel, then got some breakfast before our activity. we took a shuttle about an hour away to do an old fashioned sleigh ride. 2 quarter horses with jingle bells, hot cider, warm blankets and snow. it was a fun, relaxing way to spen an hour or so. then we got back into town, did a bit of shopping, then caught the bus home.

 

other than breakfast and drinks at the bar, the weekend was free! always the best vacations. thanks Microsoft!
